Emelie & Rebecka DecaVita
New Orleans, LA
Emelie & Rebecka DecaVita: The DecaVita sisters have been teaching and performing together since 2006 and competing since 2008. They are the founders of the performance troop MessAround, hailing from Uppsala, and Savage Rhythm Stockholm. Over the years they have placed in several international lindy hop competitions and performed in music videos, TV-shows, and theater productions. Today they make their living out of dancing and teaching both weekly classes in Stockholm as well as workshops across Sweden and abroad, spending about six months every year on the road. Together they are known for their dynamic and unique dance style. As instructors, Emelie and Rebecka strive to teach great technique in a way that is positive, coherent, and productive. They particularly value the art of leading and following, believing that leaders and followers require equal amount of information in the classroom to create the best possible connection on the dance floor.
Andy Reid: Andy started dancing in the late nineties. His style is a balance of the refined and the eccentric. His proficiency with rhythm and partnering make his dancing rich and inspiring to watch and experience. While Andy specializes in and is passionate about the original styles of lindy hop, his dancing is a mix of many influences, is always inventive, and is never encumbered by labels. Always striving for harmony with the music, Andy's experience playing jazz in his current home of New Orleans affords him the opportunity to give his students a deeper musical connection to their dance. Andy's teaching aims to bring the best out of his students both physically and mentally. He is a founding member of Silver Shadows, a member of the highly innovative troupe Minnie's Moochers, and a founding member of Mad Dog!, a Lindy Hop Crew who is infamous within the lindy community for some reason.

Nina Gilkenson: Lindy Hopper. Belly Dancer. Hair-removal Laser Technician. The mysterious figure that is known only as "Nina" (and sometimes "Naomi") has many titles from prestigious dance competitions. But that's only a small part of her accomplishments. For instance, she can swivel in midair. She can simultaneously create vintage-style dresses and then destroy them while dancing. She can make 12-minute biscuits in 10 minutes. She writes upbeat musical theatre involving funeral homes. And last, but not least, she is a part of the award-winning lindy hop team the Silver Shadows, which sounds like it's a group of super heroes. And that's what she is. A Super Hero--one whose main superpower is doing swivels in midair. And one day, they might save the world. Until then, she lives in Baltimore and falls down a lot.
Laura Glaess: Laura started dancing in 2001 in San Antonio and quickly came to love lindy hop, the music, the history, and everything involved. She now travels the world teaching, competing, performing, and learning. She is a passionate believer in dancing with swing, with rhythm, and with presence. Laura constantly strives to find something genuine and fun, instead of finding the next cool move, and passionately believes that follows and leads are two vitally important sides of the same coin.
Brooks Prumo: Brooks is an avid lindy hopper living in Austin, TX. He is driven by a continuous need to create something new and true to himself. He is also a founding member of award-winning dance groups: Lindy Hopper’s Dozen and Lindy Hopper’s Half Dozen. Nowadays, Brooks is often seen dancing to jazz music, teaching how to dance to jazz music, listening to jazz music, trying to find new jazz music, or playing jazz music. He really likes jazz music. Brooks enjoys focusing on the rhythm of the dance, in addition to an understanding of his partner and the music.

with the All-Stars
Saturday, Sept. 10th @ 9pm
Sunday, Sept. 11th @ 1:30pm
Joe Smith and The Spicy Pickles: Joe Smith and The Spicy Pickles Jazz Band is a Denver-based vintage jazz band dedicated to revitalizing swing music and dance. This small group style swing band packs a punch of power, personality, and wit into each show, intriguing generations new and old with the beloved charm of big band swing from the late 30’s and early 40’s. The Pickles bring it all – high energy, quality musicianship, and an authentic big band sound and look that celebrate the unique American spirit of swing.
Joe Smith Big Band with the All-Stars: Like an upsized version of The Spicy Pickles, the Joe Smith Big Band showcases the sound of the late 1930’s and early 1940’s. The 13-piece orchestra captures the unmatched excitement and true rhythmic pulse of the Swing-era. The band follows in the footsteps of the Artie Shaw and Count Basie orchestras with an aggressive and tight sound, and is filled with all-star soloists that bring the fire on every song, regardless of tempo.
The Joe Smith Big Band was founded because of a desire to provide the fiery power that makes you want to swing out hard all night long. Like the Spicy Pickles, the Big Band has that true authentic sound and feel of the golden era of jazz.

Prairie Cats: Prairie Cats hail from the heart of the heartland but are known the world over. Formed in 1998 in Omaha, Nebraska, the seven-piece band delivers an all-original mix of swing, jazz, and jump-blues.

Kyle Smith: Bringing his deep passion for classic big band swing, Kyle is honored to have been a part of hundreds of swing events throughout his career. Starting as a lindy hopper in 1996, he has been a part of Camp Hollywood since 1999. He holds standing Head DJ positions at ABW, EBC, Lindy On The Rocks, The Balboa Experiment, and The California Balboa Championships. One of Kyle’s greatest talents is the ability to hand select competition music that both inspires and energizes the competitors and audience alike. Even though he’s often stationed behind a DJ booth, he still enjoys dancing. So when you see him out at an event, be sure to ask him for a dance.

Laurel Ryan: When Laurel was four years old she would entertain her babysitters by draping herself over the back of the couch and crooning the Java Jive. It's no surprise that as a fully grown adult Laurel loves sharing music with the lindy hop community any way she can. As native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, she takes every opportunity to fit "Take Me Back to Tulsa" into a set (which is rare, because it's a very fast song and it takes a special group of swing dancers to embrace the goofy delights of Western Swing music). Returning to Cowtown Jamborama as the daytime DJ is a dream come true for someone like Laurel, who was born convinced she has the best taste in music. Soon everyone will know. YOU'LL ALL KNOW!
